The Lethbridge Hurricanes undoubtedly can become accustomed to watching a multi-faceted defenceman in the newly acquired Caden Price from the Kelowna Rockets.
Price is a stopper on defence, a player that makes plays and one that moves the puck.
“I think younger on in my career ,when I was 16, I kind of learned to play defence then and I’ve kind of done that ever since,” said Price.
“But when I was younger, I played forward, so I think the offensive side of it I’ve always had. But I take pride in both ends of the ice.”
He’s excited for the opportunity with the Canes.
“Whatever they want me to do, I’m willing to do,” said Price.
“I just want to win with these guys here and have a long playoff push. So I’m looking forward to it.”
The Canes dressing room is not all unfamiliar for Price as he knows the some of the other Saskatoon players on the team.
“Most of us train and work out together and hang out and stuff, golf, whatever it is,” said Price.
“So it’s really exciting to be able to lace up the skates every night and get on this ice with those boys.”
After a whirlwind couple of months with being a way at world juniors before being traded, Price has been settling into his new playing home.
“Just finally getting settled in my billet house and kind of at the rink and everything, so it’s been great. Obviously, we’ve been winning games, so that’s always nice,” said Price.
“Still adjusting to the team structure and how we play and different stuff like road trips.”
Price has 150 points (26 goals, 124 assists) in 210 games split between Kelowna and Lethbridge.
Price was a third round draft pick of the Seattle Kraken in 2023.
