A  night after losing to the Calgary Hitmen, the Lethbridge Hurricanes responded with a 3-1 win over the Red Deer Rebels on Wednesday night at VisitLethbridge.com Arena.

“I think a little bit of a difference pace of a game compared to last night,” said Matt Anholt, Canes associate head coach.

“I thought our start was good, we maybe got a little tired as the game went on but good on our guys to step up and get two big points.”

“We had a little bit of a rough start but we found ways” said forward Kash Andresen.

“We’re missing guys and guys stepped up and found ways to contribute tonight, so that was good.”

Kash Andresen slipped the puck passed Peyton Shore on the powerplay just 5:40 into the game to give the Canes a 1-0 lead.

Shane Smith and Kooper Gizowski assisted on Andresen’s sixth goal of the year.

Caden Price scored his first goal as a Cane when he found the back of the net 11:33 into the second period.

Brayden Yager and Leo Braillard collected the assists on Price’s seventh goal of the year.

Yager wristed the puck through a crowd to give the Canes a 3-0 lead on the powerplay 18:29 into the second period.

Noah Chadwick and Brayden Edwards picked up the assists on Yager’s 22nd goal of the year.

The Rebels got a goal back when Matthew Gard capitalized on a rebound at the 6:29 mark of the third period from Ollie Josephson and Beckett Hamilton.

Lethbridge went 2-for-4 on the powerplay and killed off Red Deer’s three chances.

It was the last meeting of the season series between the Canes and the Rebels, in which Lethbridge won with a 7-1 record.

Lethbridge (33-16-2-1) hosts the Regina Pats on Friday night.
