Kodiaks have mixed results against Briercrest

The Lethbridge Polytechnic Kodiak volleyball and basketball teams wrapped up their regular seasons with mixed results against Briercrest over the weekend.

The Kodiak men’s volleyball team swept the Clippers on home court after three match and four match wins respectively to end their regular season with a 17-2 record.

Ethan Nashim collected 16 points, 13 kills and a .500 hitting percentage, Nolan Moes had 14 points, nine blocks and three kill and all while hitting the 1,000 ACAC career kills mark and Ben St. Pierre added 30 assists and three service aces in leading the way for the Kodiaks.

Ben Dyck and Cameron Marshall led the Kodiaks with 17 and 15 points respectively in Saturday’s five-set win.

Marshall’s 15 points came off 15 kills on 25 attempts and he accumulated a .440 hitting percentage.

Dyck had 14 kills to go along with his point total.

The Kodiak women’s team split with top-ranked Briercrest to finish their season with a 4-15 record.

Lethbridge opened on Friday with a four-set loss to Briercrest.

Aideena Wickstrom led the offence with a game-high 19 kills.

The women ended their season on a high note with a four-set win on Saturday over Briercrest.

Wickstrom led the way for Lethbridge Polytechnic with 16 kills.

The Kodiak basketball teams dropped both of their games at Briercrest.

The women’s team (8-13) lost their first game on Friday 82-52 and 64-38 on Saturday.

Chase Wells-Creighton dropped 12 points on Friday and Bailey Blackmore had 11 points on Saturday for the Kodiaks.

The men’s basketball team(13-8) lost 85-77 on Friday and followed that with a 98-80 loss on Saturday.

Coleson Lake drained 22 points on Friday  and Treydon Barton had 19 points on Saturday for the Kodiaks.

The school’s indoor track teams had success at their Saturday meet in Edmonton.

The men’s team claimed the 4×200 and 4×400 m relays, followed by Owen Stewart winning the 600m with a time of 1:25.27 and 1,000m (2:35.81) and Ethan Grasmeyer won the 3,000m (9:28.38)  in his season debut in the indoor race and was his first ACAC victory.

The Kodiak women were led by Hannah Pilling, who finished second in the 3,000m (11:24.52) and third in the 1,500m (5:21.91).
