Nicholas Johnson scored in the first round of the shootout to lift the Brandon Wheat Kings to a 4-3 win over the Lethbridge Hurricanes at Westoba Place on Friday night.

All three Hurricane shooters missed on their shoot out opportunities.

Brandon’s Jaxon Jacobson got the scoring going in the contest with his 13th goal of the season from Jordan Gavin and Dylan Ronald.

Kash Andresen got the Canes back on even terms 3:40 later from Anthony Wilson.

Brayden Edwards scored his 26th goal of the year on the powerplay with 12 seconds left in the opening frame to give the Canes a 2-1 lead heading into the intermission.

Brayden Yager and Leo Braillard assisted on Edwards goal.

Jacobson tied the game up with his 14th goal of the season from Gavin and Matteo Michels 4:40 into the second period.

Nolan Flammand found the back of the net on the powerplay over five minutes after Jacobson’s goal to give the Wheat Kings a 3-2 lead.

Johnson and Luke Shipley assisted on Flammand’s 21st goal of the year.

Leo Braillard notched the tying goal for the Canes 12:42 into the third period from Noah Chadwick and Tristen Doyle.

Lethbridge outshot Brandon 41-25 in the contest.

The Canes went 1-for-3 and the Wheat Kings went 1-for-4 on the powerplay.

Braillard and Logan Wormald returned from upper body injuries on Friday night and Jordan Gustafson was a game time decision but was a no go.

Wormald had been out since Feb. 7 and Braillard was on the shelf since Feb. 15.

The Canes wrap up their four-game road trip tonight at the Regina Pats with puck drop at 5 p.m.
