The Lethbridge Headwater Hurricanes U17AAA hockey teamm ended their regular season with a home-ice split with the Airdrie Avalanche over the weekend.
Airdrie won 4-3 on Saturday.
Barrett Van Nistelrooy scored two goals and Briggs Fabro added a goal in the loss for the Canes.
Talyn Matthews stopped 37-of-41 shots for Lethbridge.
The Canes rebounded with a 7-5 win on Sunday.
Lethbridge had seven different goal scorers including Fabro, Ryder Fomradas, Landon Ward, Cohen Zasadny, Devin Groenenboom, Dawson Spence and Parker Fleishhauer.
Lucas Pasemko saved of 36-of 41 shots in the Canes crease.
With the split, Lethbridge earned the eighth and final playoff spot in the South Division and will open up the playoffs against the Calgary NW Flames tomorrow night on the road.
Game 2 is Saturday at Nicholas Sheran Arena at 2 p.m. and if necessary Game 3 is back in Calgary on Sunday at 2p.m.
