The Lethbridge Hurricanes split the final weekend of the WHL’s regular season.

After a back-and-forth 4-2 win Friday at the VisitLethbridge.Com Arena over the Edmonton Oil Kings, the Hurricanes fell 10-1 Saturday on the road to the Medicine Hat Tigers.

Lethbridge, entering the game Saturday locked into fourth place in the Eastern conference, healthy scratched forwards Miguel Marques, Brayden Yager, Logan Warmold, defenceman Kale Tipler and goaltender Jackson Unger.

Jordan Gustafson scored the lone Lethbridge goal, notching his sixth of the season in only his eighth regular season game. Koen Cleaver was between the pipes in the loss, making 33 saves.

The Hurricanes will face the fifth-seed Brandon Wheat Kings in the first round of the WHL playoffs. Lethbridge owned the season series with Brandon, going 3-0-0-1. The Wheat Kings lone win of the season against the Hurricanes came with a 4-3 shootout victory on Feb. 28.

Lethbridge held Brandon to one goal or less in two of their meetings, with a 3-1 win on march 7 and a 3-0 shut-out victory on Nov. 11.

The two teams last met in postseason action in the second-round of the 2018 WHL playoffs. Lethbridge took the series 4-1 before bowing out to the eventual WHL champion Swift Current Broncos in the Eastern conference finals.

The best-of-seven series gets underway Friday in Lethbridge at 7 p.m. Game 2 is Saturday, also in Lethbridge, with puck drop at 6 p.m. The series turns to Manitoba for Games 3 and 4 on April 1 and 2, to be held in Virdin due to arena availability.

Playoff tickets can be purchased at the VLC arena ticket centre or online.
