PBA ends busy Saturday with a split

The Prairie Baseball Academy varsity Dawgs opened up their regular season out on Vancouver Island against the VIU Mariners and took a split in what turned out to be four games on Saturday.

The Dawgs opened a busy Saturday with a 10-3 where they got 10 runs on 13 hits.

Noah McNeil went 3-for-4 at the plate, scored a run and had an RBI, while Owen Lucas led the way with three runs for the Dawgs.

PBA’s Jack Hudson got the win on the mound after going 2 1/3 innings and allowing a run on two hits and striking out four Mariner batters.

Saturday’s first game was carried over from Friday which was delayed after 2 2/3 innings.

The Mariners won the second game 3-1.

Juan Puerta scored PBA’s only run, while VIU had three runs on eight hits.

Jake Maniago gave up three runs on eight hits while striking out eight batters.

The Dawgs then rebounded with an 8-2 victory.

 Tetsu Nishida led the way at the plate by going 2-for-2 and scoring a run, while Scott and Nate Garth scored two runs each.

PBA’s Dawson Morrill pitched 4 2/3 innings while striking out seven batters and allowing two runs on five hits to get the win.

Saturday ended with a Mariners 3-2 win.

PBA scored two runs on seven hits and the Mariners had three runs on four hits.

Brayden Dewitt pitched six innings in the loss where he gave up three runs on four hits and striking out nine batters.

PBA continues their road trip at the Okanagan College Coyotes for four games this weekend.
