The Catholic Central Cougars girls rugby team will be focusing on the basics with many new players this season.
Dez Prete, head coach of the girls says the first game of the season went really well and is impressed by the leadership from the more experienced players.
“Our team has been really awesome at being open and helping out the new players and just practicing as if they’ve been on the team the whole time.”
She says that leadership, along with being coachable, especially from the players is crucial to making the team successful.
“One of the most important things about rugby is learning from your peers, they can teach so much more than I can because they’re playing the game with you.”
Prete says the team will have a focus on defence as in their opening game they struggled, but has full confidence they will learn quickly.
