The 13U Boys Division 1 Provincial Championship in Alberta just witnessed a true powerhouse performance this past weekend, as the Lethbridge Volleyball Club (LVC) Attack claimed the title in a flawless, undefeated season.

With a perfect 18-0 record, these young athletes are showing what it takes to be the best in Alberta volleyball, not just in terms of skills but in heart, effort, and a commitment to a team-first mentality.

Coached by head coach Dustin McCubbing and  his assistant coaches Jeremy Reimer and Jordan Trydal, this group of talented boys bought into the LVC Attack philosophy of Effort, Team, and Attitude from the very beginning of the season. Their growth over the past several months has been nothing short of inspiring. They’ve not only mastered the technical skills of the game at this level, but have developed a winning mindset that has allowed them to excel under pressure and always supporting each other on and off the court.

The road to victory was anything but easy, with tough competition along the way, but the LVC Attack was more than up to the task. The team’s strength was multifaceted, from their aggressive and consistent serving to a disciplined team defense. What really set them apart, however, was their ability to read and exploit the holes in their opponents’ defense, adjusting their play on the fly to ensure they kept control of every match.

At the Provincial Championship in Innisfail, the LVC Attack faced off against two formidable FOGG teams from Edmonton in the round robin stage. These teams came prepared to fight, but LVC’s superior teamwork and execution prevailed. They won their pool in straight sets, demonstrating dominance early on.

The quarterfinals saw them square off again against one of the same FOGG teams. It was a hard-fought battle, but LVC held their composure and emerged victorious. The semifinals pitted them against a very tough Canada West squad from Calgary, but once again, LVC’s balanced depth of talent shone through as they earned their spot in the final.

In the championship match, LVC faced the same FOGG Koala team they had defeated earlier, but this time the stakes were even higher. LVC remained calm under pressure, sticking to their game plan, and executing it flawlessly to take home the provincial title in impressive fashion.

One of the defining features of the LVC Attack was their depth. With the fair play rules ensuring that all players received equal court time, LVC’s ability to consistently field two strong lines was a major advantage. While some of their competitors had fewer players, allowing them to keep their best on the court for the majority of each set, LVC’s well-rounded roster made all the difference. Players like Emery Reimer Seth Reimer, and Zak McCubbing were just some of the names on the roster that proved pivotal in the team’s success. The list also included Dixon Stout , Ben Laporte, Finn Bevans , Abhigyan Nagaruru , Marcky Villacin, Keelin Trydal, Toby Bishop ( Cooper Stout , RJ Moline DC, and a coaching staff that encouraged and guided the players every step of the way.

As the Lethbridge Volleyball Club looks forward to the future, this championship marks just the beginning for this talented group.
