Hurricanes ready for Game 7

By Lethbridge Herald on April 22, 2025.

The Lethbridge Hurricanes are ready for what will be a war-like, hard fought Game 7 against the Calgary Hitmen tonight and know the extra importance of sticking with their game plan and a good start will be if they are to move on to the third round.

“Just play our game, don’t come off our game, stay composed,” said Canes head coach Bill Peters, after Game 6, as he looked ahead to Game 7.

“There’s gonna be some ups and downs, there’s gonna be some momentum swings but just make sure we handle them properly.”

Peters said Game 7s are a lot of fun.

“Everyone wants to be playing at this time of year and to be able to play in a Game 7 in order to advance is outstanding,” said Peters.

“ So when you’re in training camp, if somebody says, ‘Hey, round two, Game 7, would you sign-up for it right here, right now?’ And I think everybody would. So we’re in a real good spot.”

Canes associate head coach Matt Anholt was asked on Monday about how the team is mentally preparing for Game 7.

“ Some days off  between games is really huge to just get your bodies right and get mentally sharp,” said Anholt.

“It’s gonna be a war come Wednesday. This series has been a hard-fought series.”

Canes forward Miguel Marques thinks it will be important for them to set the tone right off the bat.

“Just taking it to them right away (and) not letting them at come at us,” said  Marques.

“I think when we take it to them, no one can beat us in this league.”

This will be Marques first Game 7.

“It’s gonna be electric, obviously we’re on the road and we wanna go spoil it for them,” said Marques.

“We wanna be playing Med Hat next round and we wanna get there and obviously make a run for this championship.”

Caden Price echoed the importance of a strong start at the Saddledome.

“Just I think playing in five-minute increments, playing our game and get to that first T.V. timeout,” said Price.

The excitement level is there for Game 7.

“Boys are excited,” said Price.

“Obviously everybody dreams about winning Game 7s, making plays (and) big moments. So we need everybody in that room.”

Game time tonight  is 7 p.m. at the Scotiabank Saddledome.
