The Prairie Baseball Academy Dawgs split the last two games of a four-game series with the Edmonton Collegiate Hawks on Friday during Canadian College Baseball Conference Action.
The Dawgs took the third game of the four game series 5-1 on Friday morning.
Alex Fijal took the win for PBA on the mound after coming on in relief of starting pitcher Dawson Morrill, who had a sore arm after two innings, and pitched 2 2/3 innings, while giving up three hits and striking out three batters.
Joesph Bews came in and finished the game by pitching 2 1/3 innings and gave up Edmonton’s only run in the seventh inning.
Justin Scott had a hit on three opportunities at the plate and hit in two RBIs for PBA.
Tetsu Niishida, Morgan Halliday, Juan Puerta, Max Wiebe and Owen Lucas crossed the plate for the Dawgs in the win.
PBA was then edged 5-4 in the afternoon game.
The Dawgs Ben Puszkar took the loss on the bump after going 2 2/3 innings of relief after taking over for starter Matt Wright, who had a bullpen day after being pulled, after two innings.
Wright gave up two runs, a hit and struck out a batter.
Puszkar gave up three earned runs and a hit while walking four batters.
Cody Graf then came in and pitched the last 1 1/3 innings for PBA.
Will Turner had three hits on four chances at the plate and a had a run and three RBIs for PBA.
Lucas, Niishida and Noah McNeill also scored a run in the loss.
The Dawgs split the first two games on Thursday with the Hawks with a win and loss.
The Dawgs (13-10) continue their road trip on Monday when they play a double-header against the University of Calgary Dinos at 3 and 6 p.m. respectively.
