Dawgs finish up regular season with split

The Prairie Baseball Academy Dawgs gained a split in their last four games of their Canadian College Baseball Conference regular season over the weekend.

The Dawgs swept  the Edmonton Collegiate Hawks at Lloyd Nolan Yard on Saturday with a  5-3 win and a  17-0 win respectively.

Declan Okane went 3-for-3 with two runs and four RBIs and Aiden McKenzie went 3-for-4 with three runs and three RBIs (Runs Batted In) to lead the way the way for the Dawgs in the 17-0 five-inning  win.

Devon Hagel had six RBIs ,including two home runs, as well for the Dawgs.

PBA pitcher Jake Maniago took the win after going four innings while allowing two hits and striking out four batters.

PBA had 17 runs on 15 hits in the game.

In the 5-3 win, Logan Heaney led the way for PBA by going 2-for-3 with two RBIs.

Hagel, Owen Lucas, Morgan Halliday  had an RBI each in the win.

Jack Hudson was the winning pitcher  after going six innings, allowing three runs on seven hits and striking out five batters.

PBA began the weekend with a pair of losses to the University of Calgary Dinos on Friday.

Justin Scott and Will Turner had two RBIs while Hagel and Okane had an RBI each in the 11-6 loss in the first game.

PBA pitcher Ben Puzskar took the loss on the hill for the Dawgs after pitching 5 1/3 innings while giving up six runs on nine hits and striking out five hitters.

The Dinos edged the Dawgs 12-9 in the second game on Friday.

Turner led the way  for PBA by going 3-for-5 at the plate with two runs and two RBIs in the loss.

Nate Garth also had two RBIs and Hagel, Scott, who also had a home run, Tetsu Niishida and Morrill each had an RBI each.

Cody Graf took the loss for PBA after pitching 5 1/3 innings, giving up five runs on three hits and striking out four batters.
