The Lethbridge Bulls put up 19 runs to take the inaugural Western Canadian Baseball League Rural Roots Baseball Classic in Oyen 19-11 over the Sylvan Lake Gulls on Sunday afternoon.
A nine-run second inning is what propelled the Bulls to the win.
Lee Matsuzaki had three hits in four plate appearances, while scoring a run and driving in two RBIs (runs batted in) and Brennan McTavish had two hits in four attempts at the plate while hitting in five RBIs and score two runs to lead the Bulls.
Drew Bufford hit in four RBIs for Lethbridge.
Max Benton got the win for the Bulls after pitching six innings, allowing five runs on five hits, striking out five and walking a batter.
The Bulls lost 10-9 in 11 innings to the Gulls on Saturday night at Spitz Stadium.
Lethbridge was down 7-5 going into the ninth inning before tying the game at seven to send the game to extra innings.
Sylvan then scored three runs to the Bulls two in the 11th inning.
JP Spinosa had four hits in six plate trips in the game for the Bulls, while scoring two runs and bringing in an RBI.
Stevyn Andrachick had three RBIs for Lethbridge.
Samuel Herrara was the losing Bulls pitcher after going 2 2/3 innings, while giving up three runs on five hits and striking out a batter
The Bulls host Brooks tonight at 6:35 p..m.
