The Lethridge Bulls had tough time getting any production on the base pads as they fell 10-5 to the Brooks Bombers during a Western Canadian Baseball League Monday matinee game at Spitz Stadium.

“Just gave up too many extra base runners early and then didn’t take care of the baseball,” said Ryan MacDonald, Bulls head coach.

The Bulls ran into not having enough hitting that was situational.

“Stranding runners on third base with nobody out just comes back to bite you in the butt,” said MacDonald.

The Bulls were playing on back-to-back days after a 7-2 win in Okotoks on Sunday night.

“Energy was down, we didn’t come out ready to play and it showed on the field,” said MacDonald.

“I’m not going to make any excuses, but it looked like we weren’t focused today,” said Dalen Blanchard.

The Bulls, however, got off to a good start in the game when Carter Claerhout hit a home run in the bottom of the first inning.

Lethbridge score another run in the second inning when Brennan McTavish scored from third base on a Jalen Ryan single.

Brooks then stormed back with four runs of their own in the third inning to take a 4-2 lead.

Ben Fishel scored on a one-out double by Troy Morrow to get Brooks the board.

A bases-clearing double by Seth Reker with two outs scored three more runs for Brooks.

Morrow then hit a three-run home run in the sixth inning to give the Bombers a 7-2 lead.

Bernie Socarras scored the Bulls third run of   the game in the seventh inning on a wild pitch.

Brooks added three more runs in the eighth inning courtesy of a Morrow two-run home run and a Fishel RBI (runs batted in) single.

Blanchard and Ryan hit back-to-back home runs for the Bulls in the bottom of the ninth inning to make the score 10-5.

Claerhout, McTavish and Ryan each had two hits on four plate appearances and a each had a run scored.

Ryan and Claerhout each had an RBI.

Blanchard had two hits on three trips to the plate with a run and RBI.

Morrow scorched the Bulls pitching as he had three hits on four plate appearances, six RBIs and three runs.

Brett Getz took the loss for the Bulls on the mound as he lasted three innings, while giving up four runs on three hits, striking out four and walking two batters.

The Bulls host the Energy City Cactus Rats for a double header tonight, which will be two seven-inning games, beginning at 5:05 p.m.

The Bulls had seven runs on 10 hits in Okotoks on Sunday night in their 7-2 win.

Levi Abbott was the winning pitcher after throwing seven innings, while allowing one run, one hit, walking a batter and striking out eight batters and he was perfect through six innings.
