The Okotoks Dawgs annihilated the Lethbridge Bulls 24-2 during Western Canadian Baseball League action on Thursday night at Spitz Stadium.
The Dawgs got 24 runs on 21 hits, while the Bulls mustered two runs six hits.
Chase Logan opened the scoring with a two-run home run in the second inning to give Okotoks an early 2-0 lead.
The Bulls made the score 2-1 in the bottom of the second inning when Bernie Socarras hit a two-out single to score Stevyn Andrachick from second base.
It was all Dawgs from then on.
It was in the third inning that Nash Crowell drew a bases loaded walk, which resulted in Ricardo Sanchez coming across the plate to give the Dawgs a 3-1 lead.
Connor Crowson later hit a three-run home run in third inning to give Okotoks a 6-1 lead.
The Dawgs kept pouring it on in the fourth inning with three more runs to make the score 9-1.
Eric Machej scored the Dawgs first run of the inning, before Sanchez and Steven Eisner scored on passed balls on two different plays.
The fifth inning saw Okotoks tack on three more runs which started with Crowson scoring after a pitcher’s error, which then was followed by Sanchez and Logan scoring on a Jake Skaggs double to make the score 12-1.
Skaggs scored on a Benito Bonilla single in the seventh inning for the Dawgs 13th run, before Crowson’s triple scored three more runs to increase their lead to 16-1.
Crowson then scored on a Chase Logan single for Okotoks’ 17th run of the game.
The Bulls’ Jack Kalisky hit a home run in the bottom of the seventh inning to make the score 17-2.
Okotoks added seven more runs in the eighth to extend to their lead to 24-2.
Starter Jason Berglund was the losing pitcher for the Bulls as he went three innings while giving up six runs on four hits and walking four and striking out four batters.
The Bulls host Brooks on Saturday night and Okotoks on Sunday afternoon at 2:05 p.m.
