Bulls edge Cactus Rats to split two-game series

The Lethbridge Bulls edged the Energy City Cactus Rats 6-5 to split their two-game series   on Friday night during Western Canadian Baseball League at Spitz Stadium.
The Cactus Rats won the opener of the series 11-6 on Thursday night.
The Cactus Rats got on the board in the top of the first inning when Parker Husu scored on a Marcos Franjul single to give the visitors a 1-0 lead.
Lee Matsuzaki of the Bulls hit a home run in the bottom of the first inning to tie the game at one.
Elias Campbell scored on a Timo Aracena single in third inning to give Energy City a 2-1 lead.
Lethbridge’s JC Spinosa tied the game at two in the bottom of the third when he scored on a Carter Claerhout ground out.
Jack Kalisky then hit a two-out double to score Bernie Socarras and give the Bulls a 3-2 lead at the end of three innings.
Campbell came up to bat in the fourth inning and hit a two-out double to score Ten Shindo from third base.
Franjul scored on a passed ball to give the Cactus Rats a 4-3 lead in the fifth inning.
Seiji Umezawa scored from third base in the sixth inning on a Husu single to make the score 5-3 for the Cactus Rats.
Kalisky tied the game at five with a two-run home run in the bottom of the sixth inning.
Brennan McTavish walked home with the bases loaded to give the Bulls a 6-5 lead after Dalen Blanchard got hit by a pitch in the eighth inning.
Kalisky, Claerhout and Socarras each had two hits, and a run scored each for the Bulls.
Kalisky drove in three runs as well.
Hayden Oglesby came on in relief of Bulls starter Samuel Herrera, who pitched 4 2/3 innings, and got the win on the mound after he allowed a run on three hits and struck out a batter in 3 1/3 innings of work.
The Bulls host the Sylvan Lake Gulls tonight at 7:05 p.m. and tomorrow afternoon at 2:05 p.m.
