The Lethbridge Jr. Bulls 14U team hung on to beat the B.C. representative 11-10 in their Junior Canadian Little League Championship opener on Wednesday at Spitz Stadium.
“We started out really strong today, our offence came alive early on and we pitched really well,” said Will Sharpe, Jr. Bulls head coach.
The Bulls had 11-8 lead going into the last inning and held on for the 11-10 victory.
“They added on two runs in the bottom of the seventh inning, we made a pitching change and Santiago (Sanchez) came in and pitched well and helped us get the win,” said Sharpe.
Lethbridge learned no teams are to be taken lightly as they prepare to play Quebec in their second game this morning.
“Every team is gonna be able to score runs, they’re gonna be able to pitch well and they’re gonna be able to play defence and we expect nothing different from Quebec,” said Sharpe.
Ontario beat Quebec 6-2 in the first game on Wednesday.
Lethbridge plays the Quebec team this morning at 10 a.m. and Ontario plays the Alberta entry at 1 p.m.
All games are at Spitz Stadium.
