Bulls edge Red Sox

The Lethbridge Bulls hung on to beat the Regina Red Sox 5-4 on Thursday night during Western Canadian Baseball League action at Spitz Stadium.

Jack Kalisky drove in Brennan McTavish with a two-out single to open the scoring for the Bulls in the bottom of the first inning.

Kalisky then scored on a Steve Andrachick single to give the Bulls a 2-0 lead after an inning of play.

The scoring picked up again in the fifth inning when the Red Sox scored two runs to tie the game.

Zayd Brannigan hit a one-out double to cash in a pair of runs to tie the game 2-2.

Matthew Fox was the next batter at the dish, and he drove in Brannigan to give Regina a 3-2 lead.

The Bulls responded in the bottom of the fifth inning with three runs of their own to take a 5-3 lead.

A one-out double by Carter Claerhout scored Bernie Socarras, who doubled to start the inning, to tie the game at three.

Kalisky then came up to the dish next and hit a two-run home run to give Lethbridge that 5-3 lead.

Regina got to within a run in the eighth inning when James Wright scored on a Jory Graves single.

Kalisky had two hits in four plate appearances, two runs and three runs batted in and McTavish had three hits and a run to lead the Bulls charge.

Bulls starting pitcher Maxim Mrakovcic got the win after giving up three runs on four hits, striking out three hitters and walking five players in five innings pitched.

The win allowed the Bulls to sweep the Red Sox in their two-game series after 10-8 win on Wednesday.

Lethbridge hosts the Fort McMurray Giants tonight at Spitz Stadium.
