The Lethbridge Bulls clipped the Sylvan Lake Gulls 4-2 in Western Canadian Baseball League action on Thursday night in Sylvan Lake.
Lee Matsuzaki opened the scoring for the Bulls in the first inning when he scored from second base on a two-out single by Jack Kalisky.
Ty Yukumoto replied for the Gulls with a solo home run off of Maxim Mrakovcic in the bottom of the first inning to tie the game at one.
Brennan McTavish gave the Bulls a 2-1 lead in the second inning when he scored from third on an Adonis Bernal single.
The Gulls replied once again in the bottom of the second inning when a Junior Garcia double scored Brooks Bachman from second base to tie the game at two.
McTavish gave Lethbridge a 3-2 lead when he walked home with the bases loaded as JC Spinosa drew a walk in the top of the seventh inning.
Bernal scored the Bulls fourth run when Bernie Socarras got hit by a pitch with the bases loaded in the same inning
Socarras and Kalisky each had two hits in the game, while McTavish led the Bulls in runs with two.
Mrakovcic gave up two runs on four hits, struck out six Gulls and walked a batter in seven
innings of work.
Both the Bulls (32-18) and Gulls (33-19) are three-and-a-half games back of Okotoks for the division lead.
Both teams play again tonight in Sylvan Lake.
