Hurricanes sign more prospects

The Lethbridge Hurricanes signed multiple prospects  in recent days.

Defenceman Liam McFadden and forwards Luka Samu and Graham Gard were all signed to WHL Scholarship and Development Agreements and are all from the 2025 WHL Prospects Draft.

The 14-year-old McFadden was the Canes 54th overall pick in the 2025 WHL Draft, and had 26 points (four goals, 22 assists) in 36 regular season contests and chipped in another three points in the playoffs with the  OHA Edmonton U15 Prep team last season.

McFadden also played with the OHA U17 Prep team where he had four points in six games.

The 15-year-old Samu was a fourth-round pick of the Canes, and he collected 52 points (23 goals, 39 assists) in 36 regular season contests and had five points in five playoff games with the Northern Alberta Xtreme U15 Prep team.

Samu had  a successful John Reid Memorial tournament, as he raked in 12 points  in the six games for NAX.

As for Gard, another fourth-round pick of the Canes, he had 32  regular season points and tacked on 11 points in nine playoff game last season with the Winnipeg Thrashers U15AAA team.

The 6’3” forward collected four assists in five contests with the U17 Thrashers and tallied a goal in two games at the U18 level.

Lethbridge signed American-born forward Hunter Kapen on Sunday.

Kapen had an outstanding year with the Anaheim Jr. Ducks U15AAA team this past season where he had 104 (49 goals, 55 assists) in 83 regular season games and had three points in the playoffs.

Kapen was listed by the Canes after going through both  the US Priority Draft and WHL Prospects draft undrafted.
