The University of Lethbridge Pronghorn men’s soccer team had a strong weekend in their road matches in Edmonton.
The men’s began with a 1-1 tie with the University of Alberta on Saturday.
U of A’s Rodane Cato opened the scoring in the 28th minute before the Horns Leo Kadezabek responded in the 60th minute to preserve the draw.
The Horn men’s then followed the tie with a 3-1 win over MacEwan University on Sunday.
Kai Sakaguchi got the scoring going in the sixth minute to give U of L a 1-0 lead.
MacEwan, however, tied it up in the 10th minute when Abhiroop Sandu found the back of the net.
Simon Rolfson scored his first of the season in the 42nd minute to give the Horns the lead, while teammate, Ziad El Hasumi, capped off the scoring in the 90th minute to pad U of L’s lead and solidify their victory.
As for the Horn women, they dropped both of their road games to the University of Saskatchewan Huskies over the weekend by a combined score of 13-1.
U of S defeated U of L 3-1 on Saturday.
Lisa Popp scored the Horns only goal of the contest.
The Horns were then thumped 10-0 on Sunday, where they let in six goals in the second half alone
Rugby
The U of L women’s rugby team tied U of A 26-26 to open the season on Friday.
