The Lethbridge Hurricanes couldn’t pull ahead of the Moose Jaw Warriors in a 4-2 loss at the Temple Gardens Centre on Friday night.

The two teams would play a scoreless first period, but Moose Jaw would have a goal waived off. Riley Thorpe would bat a puck out of midair past Koen Cleaver, but after review it was determined that it was a high stick and the game remained scoreless.

Connor Schmidt would strike 2:34 into the second period to get the Warriors on the board first. Landen McFadden and Casey Brown provided the helpers.

Hurricane captain Logan Wormald would tie the game with his sixth goal of the season at the 14:36 mark. Wormald got behind the Warrior defence on a breakaway and made no mistake. Jack Toogood had the lone assist.

Landen McFadden’s fifth goal of the season would come just 1:14 into the third period to give Moose Jaw the lead back. Pavel McKenzie and Kash Andresen were credited with the assists on the play.

Not even a minute later, Gavin Lesiuk would tie the game with his fourth goal of the season for Lethbridge. Tyden Lafournaise and Kade Duell picked up the assists.

Ethan Semeniuk would give the Warriors the lead with his fourth goal of the season at the 5:36 mark. Riley Thorpe and Connor Schmidt had the assists.

Washington Capitals prospect Lynden Lakovic would strike shorthanded with his 11th goal of the season to provide insurance for Moose Jaw.

Kyle Jones earned the win in goal for the Warriors making 23 saves. Koen Cleaver made 29 stops for the Hurricanes.

Lethbridge returns to action on Saturday night in Brandon against the Wheat Kings. Puck drops at 5 p.m.
