Coming out of an early season bye-week, the Lethbridge Polytechnic Kodiaks women’s volleyball team were swept in three sets (25-22, 25-17, 25-21) on home court by The King’s University (TKU) Eagles on Friday night.
“I had to admit to the girls it’s even for me confusing when a team passes as well as we did and still doesn’t win a game,” said Anna Schwark, Kodiaks head coach.
Despite the passing efficiency not helping the Kodiaks, Schwark was happy with the girls and their execution on serve-receive.
“I think Quincy Price did such a good job, she has been all season, but today it was really nice to see her be so mentally confident in a competition,” said Schwark.
Schwark did not hesitate to say the team does not have a lot of competitive experience right now.
“Part of getting over that is just letting them fail in competition and seeing if they can dig themselves out (of it) ,” said Schwark.
“It was at moments where we for a lack of a better term just chickened out and made the easy roll shot or didn’t really put heat on our attack (and) that caused us to make an error or give them something easy to score on us with.”
Game stats were not posted as of press time.
LPK is now 1-2 on the season and will look to get back into the win column when they host NorthWestern Polytechnic today at 6 p.m.
The Kodiak men’s swept TKU in three sets (25-15, 25-20, 25-17) in the later game.
They will host Northwestern Polytechnic (NWp) tonight at 8 p.m.
Meanwhile, the Kodiak women’s basketball team lost 76-54 at TKU on Friday night to fall to 0-3 on the season.
The Kodiaks men’s team won 70-56 against TKU on Friday to improve to 3-0.
Both basketball teams will head up to Grande Prairie today to take on NWP.
