Two local-area high school football teams are moving on to School Sport Alberta provincial semifinals after their quarterfinal wins, while two other local teams others were sent packing on Saturday.
The Raymond Comets defeated the St. Francis Browns 29-10 on home turf, while the LCI Rams were sent packing after losing 31-10 to the Ernest Manning Griffins in Calgary this past Saturday in 5A quarterfinal action.
The Comets will host Calgary’s Notre Dame Pride this Saturday at 1 p.m. in one semifinal for the right to go to the Alberta Bowl the following weekend.
Ernest Manning plays Harry Ainlay in the other 5A semifinal on Saturday after their quarterfinal wins.
The Cardston Cougars are one win away from the 3A Alberta Bowl championship game after defeating the Drumheller Titans 59-20 in their quarterfinal game on Saturday.
Cardston will host the Willow Creek Cobras in South Final on Saturday at University of Lethbridge Community Sports Stadium with a time still being determined.
The winner of that game will play the winner of the North Final between the St. Paul Lions and the Holy Rosary Raiders at the Alberta Bowl on Nov. 29.
In the 4A quarterfinals, the Catholic Central Cougars season came to an after losing to the Cochrane Cobras 26-23 on Saturday.
