The Chinook Coyotes varsity girls volleyball program celebrated one of their own on Monday as one of their players officially signed the dotted line to play at the post-secondary level next season.
Outside hitter Bobbi Whipple will join the Avalanche Women’s Volleyball program at the Cranbrook-based College of the Rockies beginning next fall.
“They’re a very competitive program and the culture of the program is also phenomenal,” said Whipple, on what enticed her to go to College of the Rockies.
What Whipple enjoyed about her visit was how nice the coaches were and how welcoming the team was.
“They (the coaches) really liked my attitude,” said Whipple.
Whipple will turn her attention to club volleyball to prepare herself for the post-secondary level now that the high school volleyball season has wrapped up.
“Just focusing on that now and really just extra reps (and) extra training outside of practicing as well,” said Whipple.
She will enrol in the Environmental Science program.
“She’s a freak athlete, so it was pretty obvious from the start that she was gonna do things,” said Jared Quan, Chinook varsity girls volleyball head coach.
“As coaches we were excited to get her on the team as early as we could. And we floated her up in Grade 10 just so that we could see ( the) sky’s the limit for her to reach and she’s done amazing so far and been a great leader for us. So, sad to see her go on but excited to see her future.”
