Following a WHL disciplinary investigation, the Lethbridge Hurricanes have accepted the resignation of GM Peter Anholt.

This decision was made following the conclusion of the investigation of a claim with allegations stating that Anholt breached the WHL Standard of Conduct with respect to threatening and intimidating language.

Doug Paisley, president of the Hurricanes Board of Directors says it was mutually determined this was the best path forward and announced Barclay Parneta will assume GM duties on an interim basis for the remainder of the season.

“We are confident in Barclay with his extensive experience as a GM in our league and are fortunate to have already had him on staff as Senior advisor with the Hurricanes.”

Parneta time in the WHL spans over 30 years with the Hurricanes, Vancouver Giants, Tri-City Americans and Medicine Hat Tigers. He was hired by the Hurricanes last August.

Prior to working with the Hurricanes, Parneta spent seven seasons as GM for the Giants, where he led them to a WHL Championship appearance in 2019.

He also spent seven seasons as a scout in the NHL with the St. Louis Blues and Phoenix Coyotes.

The Hurricanes have no further comment on Anholt at this time.
