The Lethbridge Hurricanes failed to record a point over the weekend.
Lethbridge fell 3-1 to the East Division leading Prince Albert Raiders on home ice on Friday.
The Raiders led early with a pair of goals in the first period from Jonah Sivertson and Alisher Sarkenov. Lethbridge would play a strong middle frame as they would outshoot the Raiders 8-4, but would fail to find the back of the net.
Just one minute into the third period, Kyle Heger would strike on the power play for his first goal as a Lethbridge Hurricane. Heger was acquired earlier this month in a deadline deal that saw Luke Cozens go to the Medicine Hat Tigers.
Prince Albert would strike just 1:11 later as Brandon Gorzynski would pot his 18th of the season off a faceoff play.
Koen Cleaver made 26 saves in goal for Lethbridge. Steele Bass made 18 stops for Prince Albert.
Lethbridge couldn’t find the back of the net at all on Saturday as they fell 5-0 to the Red Deer Rebels at the Marchant Crane Centrium.
Overager Tyson Yaremko struck twice for the Rebels while Beckett Hamilton, Kalger Varga and Matej Mikes had the other tallies for Red Deer.
Leif Oaten made 39 stops in net for the Hurricanes. Matthew Kondro made 14 saves to earn the shutout.
The Hurricanes return to action on Wednesday night when they host the Brandon Wheat Kings at the VisitLethbridge.com Arena. See Wednesday’s Herald for a full week preview.
