Lethbridge Sport Council (LSC) will be hosting a Give-it-a-Try diving event at 6 p.m. tomorrow at the university aquatic centre, for adults to try a new sport in a low commitment, low pressure environment at no cost.

This event is in partnership with the Lethbridge Diving Club and will provide the opportunity for participants to learn from experienced coaches and learn how to enter the water headfirst.

While this is a beginner friendly event, participants need to be comfortable with swimming.

Abby Neudorf, community coordinator for Lethbridge Sport Council says it’s important for adults to have opportunities to be a part of sports, which often get pushed to the side due to busy lives.

“It’s really important for everyone to be as active as they can, so (we’re) providing those easy opportunities for adults to get back into (sports.)”

She adds that sports also provide a sense of community and belonging for participants.

Give-it-a-Try began as a low-commitment way for kids to try sports without having to commit for a full season, which can be very expensive-especially if a child doesn’t enjoy the sport.

Lethbridge Sport Council decided to create Give-it-a-Try events tailored to adults, after receiving lots of positive feedback on the program.

There will be additional opportunities to try other sports such as gymnastics and rock climbing and people can sign up of Lethbridge Sport Council’s newsletter on their website lethbridgesportcouncil.ca to stay in the loop of future Give-it-a-try events.

Participants can email community@lethbridgesportcouncil.ca.  It is asked that registrations are in by tomorrow morning.
