Canada cancels training session after winger Tajon Buchanan suffers leg injury

ARLINGTON, Texas – Winger Tajon Buchanan was injured in practice Tuesday ahead of Canada’s upcoming Copa America quarterfinal against Venezuela.

Canada Soccer said the Inter Milan attacker sustained an injury to his lower leg.

While there was no immediate word on the severity of the injury, the training session was cancelled after Buchanan was taken away in an ambulance.

Canada Soccer said in a short statement that Buchanan was taken to a local hospital for further evaluation and treatment.

The 25-year-old from Brampton, Ont., has won 40 caps for Canada and has seen action in all three Copa America games so far.

Canada plays Venezuela on Friday at AT&T Stadium in Dallas.
