Manitoba’s Kerri Einarson to face defending champion Rachel Homan in Hearts final

By Canadian Press on February 23, 2025.

THUNDER BAY, Ont. — Kerri Einarson’s curling team from Manitoba advanced to the final of the Scotties Tournament of Hearts with a 9-8 semifinal win over Nova Scotia’s Christina Black.

Einarson moved on to meet defending champion Rachel Homan in the later championship game.

Einarson and third Val Sweeting won four straight Canadian women’s curling championships from 2020 to 2023. Second Karlee Burgess and lead Krysten Karwacki are newer members of the team.

After losing a playoff game to Homan, Einarson had to win the semifinal to gain a rematch for the title. With the score tied 8-8 coming home, Einarson scored a point for the win, although a measurement was required to confirm it.

Black’s team was without Jennifer Baxter in the semifinal. The team wrote in a social media post that Baxter’s father died Saturday.

Marlee Powers played second for Black on the five-player team.
