OHL roundup: Vaughan scores twice as Battalion tip IceDogs 6-2

NORTH BAY — Parker Vaughan had two goals and an assist, Ryder Carey chipped in with two assists, and the North Bay Battalion cooled off the visiting Niagara IceDogs with a 6-2 Ontario Hockey League victory on Sunday.

Kent Greer, Ihnat Pazii, Arseny Pronin and Bronson Ride also scored for the Battalion (8-8-0-0), who led 1-0 after the first period but went into the third tied 2-2.

Riley Patterson scored both goals for the IceDogs (10-5-0-1). Ryan Roobroeck chipped in with two assists.

The teams each had 30 shots on goal. The Battalion went 2-for-5 on the power play, while the IceDogs were 1-for-4.

STORM 4 STING 1

GUELPH, Ont. — Jett Luchanko and Alex McLean each had a goal and assist, Leo Serlin and Charlie Paquette both chipped in with two assists, and the Guelph Storm beat the visiting Sarnia Sting 4-1.

Grant Spada and Quinn Beauchesne also scored for the Storm (7-6-2-0), who outshot the Sting 34-29.

Ben Pickell scored for the Sting (4-8-3-0), who trailed 2-0 after the first period and 3-1 heading into the third.

The Storm went 0-for-3 on the power play, while the Sting went 1-for-3.

Storm netminder Zachary Jovanovski stopped 28 of 29 shots, while Patrick Quinlan stopped 30 of 34 shots for the Sting.

OSHAWA, Ont. — Ryder Fetterolf only had to make 16 saves to register a shutout as the visiting Ottawa 67’s blanked the Oshawa Generals 3-0.

Cooper Foster, Nathan Amidovski and Shaan Kingwell scored for the 67’s (10-5-1-0), who outshot the hosts 31-16.

The 67’s led 1-0 after the first period and took a 3-0 lead into the third.

Netminder Jaden Cholette stopped 28 of 31 shots for the Generals (5-12-0-0).

BULLDOGS 6 SPIRIT 2

SAGINAW, Mich. — Caleb Malhotra and Layne Gallacher each scored twice, Jake O’Brien had four assists, and the visiting Brantford Bulldogs blitzed the Saginaw Spirit 6-2.

Adam Benak and Marek Vanacker also scored for the Bulldogs (13-0-2-1), who outshot the hosts 37-29. Adam Jiricek, Ben Danford and Benak all chipped in with two assists.

Nikita Klepov and Levi Harper scored for the Spirit (6-6-3-2), who went 0-for-2 on the power play, while the Bulldogs were 4-for-5.

The Bulldogs led 2-0 after the first period and 6-1 after 40 minutes.

KNIGHTS 6 FRONTENACS 1

KINGSTON, Ont. — Jaxon Cover had a goal and two assists, Ben Wilmott added three assists, and the visiting London Knights whipped the Kingston Frontenacs 6-1.

Braiden Clark, Sam O’Reilly, Rene Van Bommel, Braidy Wassilyn and Kaeden Hawkins also scored for the Knights (9-3-3-0), who outshot the hosts 37-31.

Andrew Kuzma scored a power-play goal with 40 seconds left in the game for the Frontenacs (7-7-0-1), who trailed 1-0 after the first period and 5-0 heading into the third.

The Knights went 2-for-4 on the power play, while the Frontenacs were 1-for-4.

ATTACK 8 OTTERS 3

OWEN SOUND, Ont. — Cole Zurawski scored three goals, Pierce Mbuyi and Harry Nansi each had a goal and four assists, and the Owen Sound Attack whipped the visiting Erie Otters 8-3.

Tristan Delisle added two goals for the Attack (12-5-0-1), while Nicholas Sykora netted a single. John Banks chipped in with a pair of helpers.

Dylan Edwards, Brett Hammond and Julius Saari scored for the Otters (5-12-1-0), who were outshot 39-30.

The teams were tied 1-1 after the first period and the Attack took a 4-2 lead into the third period.

The Attack went 3-for-5 on the power play, while the Otters were 2-for-3.

SPITFIRES 5 FIREBIRDS 2

WINDSOR, Ont. — Liam Greentree had three goals and an assist, Carson Woodall chipped in with two assists, and the Windsor Spitfires beat the visiting Flint Firebirds 5-2.

Ethan Belchetz and Caden Harvey also scored for the Spitfires (13-3-1-1), who outshot the Firebirds 30-20.

Jimmy Lombardi and Chase Hull scored for the Firebirds (8-6-1-0), who trailed 3-0 after the first period and 4-2 heading into the third.

The Spitfires went 1-for-4 on the power play, while the Firebirds were 0-for-6.
