Premier League struggler Wolves close to hiring Rob Edwards as manager

By Canadian Press on November 8, 2025.

MIDDLESBROUGH, England (AP) — Wolverhampton was on the verge Saturday of hiring a new manager after being given permission to speak to Rob Edwards, who is currently in charge of second-tier Middlesbrough.

Wolves has been without a manager since firing Vitor Pereira on Sunday with the team in last place in the Premier League.

Edwards, who previously managed Luton Town in England’s top flight, only joined Middlesbrough in June on a three-year deal.

“Following discussions with Rob, we were disappointed to learn that he wanted to speak with Wolves regarding their head coach vacancy,” Middlesbrough said in a statement on Saturday. “We have now agreed terms with Wolves, subject to completion of the relevant paperwork.”

Edwards was not involved in Middlesbrough’s match against Birmingham on Saturday.

Wolves plays Chelsea away later Saturday.
