Wolfsburg fires sporting director Schindzielorz after poor start

By Canadian Press on November 13, 2025.

WOLFSBURG, Germany (AP) — Wolfsburg parted with sporting director Sebastian Schindzielorz on Thursday, a few days after firing coach Paul Simonis.

A former Wolves player, Schindzielorz had been the sporting director since February 2023.

Just like Simonis last week, Schindzielorz paid the price for the team’s lackluster start to the season.

“Sebastian has always shown full commitment to VfL Wolfsburg — loyal, dedicated, and with great professional expertise,” club managing director of sport Peter Christiansen said. “However, in the current sporting situation, we have decided that we need new impetus in this position.”

Christiansen will temporarily take over Schindzielorz’s role.

Wolfsburg lost at Werder Bremen 2-1 in the Bundesliga last week, its third straight defeat including the German Cup exit to second-division side Holstein Kiel. Wolfsburg has lost seven of its last eight games, and won only two of 10 league games.

Wolfsburg next faces Bayer Leverkusen at home on Nov. 22 after the international break.
