CF Montréal midfielder Wiki Carmona honoured named MLS Player of the Matchday

NEW YORK — CF Montréal midfielder Wiki Carmona has been voted the Major League Soccer Player of the Matchday, the league announced Monday.

Carmona scored two goals in Montréal’s 3-0 road victory on Sunday over the previously unbeaten New York Red Bulls.

It was Carmona’s first multi-goal game in his 105th regular-season appearance.

The Venezuelan midfielder was acquired by in an off-season trade with the Red Bulls that sent Canadian defender Jahkeele Marshall-Rutty to New York.

Carmona is the first CF Montréal player to win the award since Kamal Miller in May 2022.

Montréal (1-2-0) visits Orlando City on Saturday.
