Doug Armstrong steps down as general manager of Canada’s Olympic hockey team

CALGARY — Doug Armstrong is stepping down from his position as general manager of Canada’s Olympic hockey team.

Hockey Canada says Armstrong informed the organization he will be focusing on his position with the St. Louis Blues going forward.

Armstrong is the general manager of the NHL club.

His contract with Hockey Canada ended at the conclusion of the Milan Cortina Olympics last month.

Canada reached the final but lost a 2-1 overtime decision to the United States.

The 61-year-old Armstrong spent two years in the position. He also led the management group for the Canadian men’s team at the world championships and 4 Nations Face-Off.
