DUNEDIN — Toronto Blue Jays right-hander Trey Yesavage will start the regular season on the injured list.
A team spokesperson says it’s due to a right shoulder impingement.
The 22-year-old made his big-league debut with the Blue Jays last September.
He posted a 3-1 record and 3.58 earned-run average over six appearances in the post-season.
The team says Yesavage is scheduled to continue his spring buildup by throwing again on Wednesday.
The Blue Jays were planning to ease him into the campaign after his rise through the minor leagues last year was capped by a heavy workload through the playoffs. Toronto opens the regular season on March 27 against the visiting Athletics.
