The Regina Pats took control of the game heading into the third period to hand the Lethbridge Hurricanes a 4-2 loss Monday afternoon in Regina.
After a scoreless first period, the Canes’ Jett Jones grabbed the game’s first goal near the top of the second frame, only to have the Pats’ Stanislav Svozil respond a mere 22 seconds later.
Brayden Edwards took the lead again for the Hurricanes before the Pats’ Braxton Whitehead would even it up once more on the power play in the last minutes of the second period.
Regina’s Tanner Howe opened the third period with the game winner just 16 seconds in, with Zane Rowan adding an insurance goal mid-way through the third.
Shots on goal were 34-30 in favour of the Pats, with Harrison Meneghin in goal for the Canes.
The Hurricanes (30-19-3-3) are in Moose Jaw tonight before returning home to host the Kamloops Blazers on Friday at 7 p.m. at the Enmax Centre.
