Brooke Culley feels all students deserve a good future

Lethbridge Public School trustee candidate Brooke Culley, would like to reinvest in public education target creative advocacy, build equitable futures, and nurture an empathetic inclusive culture if elected.
Culley, who ran successfully in 2010 and served on the board for three years, is looking to get back into it when voters go to the polls on Oct. 18.
He believes it’s a critical time in this province and in this world, and therefore the school system needs to make sure that children are receiving a good education to set them up for life experiences.
Culley also believes that all kids in school need a chance for an equitable future.
“I think the school board, because of the time we are in, with COVID especially, there is a lot of work to be done and probably for a long time. And we don’t want to see any kids maybe lag behind. We have to have strategies to get them caught up and we are going to need a pretty high level look at how we are going to move kids through the education system, especially now,” said Culley.
Culley adds that the school board here can carry a lot of influence on the provincial scene as far as creating options for other school boards to create advocacy plans.
He believes that the Alberta education board can take some of the suggestions and create new pathways for students and school boards to operate.
Culley wants to establish good relationships with the other six trustees on the board, if elected, as he believes those relationships are important.
He also wants to support the administration and teachers in the city to give students the opportunity for success.
“My philosophy is that the most important relationship in all of education is the relationship between a student and a teacher and everything a board does should be in support of that.
That relationship should be supported fully,” added Culley.
