Lethbridge police advising public to report COVID-19 complaints through AHS website

By Lethbridge Herald on March 26, 2020.

LPS release:

Lethbridge Police are advising the public that all COVID-19 related complaints continue to be made through the Alberta Health website – not by calling the police complaints line.

While the provincial government has announced amendments to the Public Health Act to give police and community peace officers enforcement authorities, the process to administer violation tickets is still being finalized.

If a citizen observes or becomes aware of any violation of a COVID-19 public health order, report the matter directly to Alberta Health Services: https://ephisahs.microsoftcrmportals.com/create-case/

Once the complaint is received Alberta Health will assess the appropriate response and a Health Inspector will be assigned. Health Inspectors may request the assistance of police or a peace officer or request law enforcement respond to the complaint directly.

LPS thanks the public in advance for following the above process to ensure the capacity of our dispatchers and City 311 is not overwhelmed by COVID-19 related calls.

Citizens are also encouraged to continue to be vigilant in taking the appropriate steps to protect their health and the health and safety of the entire community.
