City suspends free waste drop-off program

By Jensen, Randy on March 27, 2020.

LETHBRIDGE HERALD

In order to limit the number of people visiting the Waste and Recycling Centre (landfill) the City of Lethbridge is suspending the free Saturday drop-off program until further notice.

Because of a large number of visitors that come to the Waste and Recycling Centre during this time, the suspension of the free Saturday program was deemed necessary. This will ensure the community is adhering to the COVID-19 social distancing guidelines as directed by the Government of Alberta.

This is a temporary measure put in place to protect the health of both residents and the staff operating the Waste and Recycling Centre.

The Waste and Recycling Centre remains open to the public Monday to Friday but residents are asked to only visit the site if absolutely necessary.

This is kinda silly. Why not make it free six days a week during this crisis, so people don’t have to flock there all on one day? Duh!
