By Jensen, Randy on September 8, 2020.

Possession of a stolen licence plate has led to drug charges against a Coaldale man.

On Wednesday, members of the Southern Alberta Crime Reduction Unit and Coaldale RCMP arrested a local resident for possession of a stolen licence plate. A search incidental to arrest found the male to be in possession of what is believed to be several controlled substances. A significant amount of fentanyl (29 grams) was seized, as well as cocaine, LSD and mushrooms.

Paul McCarthy, 40, of Coaldale has been charged with possession of fentanyl for the purpose of trafficking; unlawfully possessing cocaine; unlawfully possessing LSD; unlawfully possessing psilocybin (mushrooms); and possession of a stolen licence plate.

Following a judicial hearing McCarthy did not speak to bail and was scheduled to appear in Lethbridge provincial court on Friday.
