City yard waste sites to close on Monday

By Lethbridge Herald on November 26, 2020.

Next Monday, the three City of Lethbridge yard waste sites will close for the season. To date, the sites have collected a total of 1.48 million kilograms of yard waste which was diverted from the landfill, the City said in a news release.
The weight of this yard waste is equivalent to 914 mid-sized cars! Grass, leaves and garden waste collected at yard waste sites is composted at the Waste & Recycling Centre and used in city parks and for ground remediation at the landfill.
Since spring, the yard waste sites have been open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the following locations:
¥ Bridge Drive West Recycling StationÊ- at the top of Bridge Drive West hill, right before the junction of Bridge Drive West and University Drive.
¥ Stafford Drive North Recycling StationÊ- located at the junction of Stafford Drive North and Scenic Drive North.
¥ South Side Recycling StationÊ-Êlocated on 28 Avenue South between the Lethbridge Soccer Complex and Lethbridge Judo Club.
ÊAfter the yard wastes sites close, residents can take this material to the Waste & Recycling Centre (landfill) for composting between Dec. 1 and March 31, with no disposal fees charged on Saturdays. The City’s recycling stations which collect cardboard, glass, tin cans and plastic remain open year round.
