Surveillance results in drug charges

Lethbridge Police arrested a Surrey, B.C., man on drug trafficking charges and seized a quantity of cocaine on Monday following a surveillance operation.
The investigation, which involved the Priority Crimes Unit and Crime Suppression Team, dates back to early November. On Monday activity consistent with illegal drug transactions was observed and a search warrant was executed at a home in the 2000 block of Westside Drive and two related vehicles.
Seized were more than 90 grams of cocaine, with a value of more than $9,000, and more than $7,400 in cash.
Michael Abate, 31, has been charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking and possession of the proceeds of crime over $5,000.
