The Blood Tribe has issued additional precautions to combat the COVID – 19 pandemic on-reserve, citing an alarming increase of infections and positive tests among Blood Tribe members

Gatherings and visiting other households will no longer be allowed, all scheduled community events have been cancelled and wakes at private residences are prohibited.

Travel is restricted to essential reasons only and a curfew is now in place from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.

Those who have been ordered under quarantine by contact tracers must stay home or face fines. The Blood Tribe continues to provide essentials to those currently isolating or in quarantine.

Symptomatic and asymptomatic COVID-19 testing is available at the Mobile Medical Unit at the Standoff Health Centre parking lot. Anyone exhibiting symptoms is asked to call 403-737-8411. Those who have attended a gathering in the past 10 days or those who commute on and off reserve are being strongly urged to get tested.

Chief and Council have been tested and will remain in isolation until results are returned. Orientation and planning sessions are continuing through conference calls and other virtual arrangements, with in person meetings suspended until safe to do so.

Officials are calling upon the membership to increase their vigilance and follow the continued precautions set out by health professionals and front-line workers.
