Downtown knife incident leads to charges

By Herald on January 8, 2021.

Lethbridge police have charged a 32-year-old man with weapons and other charges after an incident downtown on Thursday.

Police responded about 9:30 p.m. to reports of a male who had smashed a window at a business in the 500-block of 7 Street South. There were subsequent reports he had also threatened the driver of a vehicle with a knife.

Police say they located a highly-agitated male standing in the center median of 6 Avenue South at 6 Street holding a knife in each hand and within a few minutes of their arrival convinced him to drop the knives, taking the man into custody without further incident.

Brad Badura, of no fixed address, has been charged with possession of a weapon dangerous to the public; assault with a weapon; mischief; possession of a controlled substance; and three counts of failing to comply with conditions of a release order. He is being held in custody while awaiting a Judicial Interim Release hearing.
