Man sentenced for charges including theft and indecent act

A Lethbridge man who exposed himself to several people as they walked past his house earlier this year has received a short jail sentence.
Brandon Coster-Tarcon was sentenced to one day in jail after he pleaded guilty Thursday in Lethbridge provincial court to one count of committing an indecent act.
Court was told two women and a boy were walking along 7A Street South about 6 p.m. on March 27, when Coster-Tarcon stepped out of a home and exposed his genitals to the three people. One of the women called police, gave them a description of the suspect, and Coster-Tarcon was arrested shortly afterward.
Coster-Tarcon also pleaded guilty to charges of shoplifting and failing to comply with release conditions.
On Jan. 28 Coster-Tarcon was at the southside Walmart and caught on video surveillance stealing a set of headphones and breaking into a display case to steal a camera worth $128. He placed the items in a bag and continued to shop, adding items to his cart as he walked around the store before heading to the checkout line.
When he noticed a manager approaching the area, he abandoned the cart and left the store with the bag containing the camera.
On Sept. 4 of this year police received information that Coster-Tarcon was at a motel in the city. Since the suspect was wanted on an outstanding warrant, police arrested him and discovered he had been in one of the rooms with a woman with whom he had previously been ordered by the court to avoid contact.
Coster-Tarcon, who has a criminal record, including convictions for assault, drug possession, flight from police, impaired driving and mischief, was sentenced to an additional 20 days for the theft and five days for breaching his release conditions. The sentences will run concurrently with each other and with the one-day sentence for committing the indecent act.
