Central Alberta small business owner on ballot for candidate for Canadian Senate

By Alejandra Pulido-Guzman - LETHBRIDGE HERALD on October 14, 2021.

Pam Davidson

Small business owner from central Alberta, Pam Davidson, is running for the Canadian Senate as she believes Alberta needs representation from someone who will stand for our constitution and for Albertans.
“I believe that we in Alberta need to have a senator that believes in both conservative representation in Ottawa and that is democratically accountable to Albertans,” said Davidson.
Davidson who operates a small business with her husband on their farm in central Alberta, grew up, has raised her family, and serves in her community.
She believes that we need senators who will stand up for Alberta’s interests and have integrity while they are doing so.
Davidson wants to focus in three main areas if elected. To protect small business owners in Alberta, protect individual liberties in Canada and to defend our national resources sector.
“I think after meeting with all the municipalities that I met, I think that the number one thing that I will be looking into more and putting my name behind, should I become senator for Alberta, would be to help get broadband throughout rural Alberta the best that I can,” added Davidson.
Seeking the votes of Albertans on Oct. 18, Davidson may become a successful Senate nominee but there is no guarantee she will be appointed to the Senate by the Governor-General on the advice of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.
Alberta Senate nominee elections are non-binding, and of the 10 elected nominees that have been voted for so far only five have been appointed to the Senate.
Davidson is a staunch believer in our freedoms, religious liberty, and freedom of speech.
“I believe that our constitution needs to be amended to protect the property rights of all Canadians,” said Davidson.
She also believes in ensuring a fair Confederation which to her means to work tirelessly every day to build businesses and allow for small businesses and people to raise their families the way they want to.
