Nominations sought for County by-election

By Lethbridge Herald on October 29, 2021.

While Alberta’s municipal election is firmly in the rearview mirror, Lethbridge County voters will be stuffing another ballot box in December in an upcoming by-election for Division 5.
On Thursday, County Council voted on a date for the by-election. On Monday, December 13, residents of Division 5 will have the opportunity to cast a vote for their Council representative.
As Lethbridge County did not receive any candidate nominations for Division 5 in the Municipal Election held on October 18, the province has directed the County to hold a by-election to fill the vacant spot.
The nomination period opens today and those interested in running have until Monday, November 15 at noon to submit their nomination papers. Papers can be picked up at the Lethbridge administration office (#100, 905 4 Avenue S.) or downloaded at https://lethcounty.ca/p/election-2021.
Papers must be filed at the Lethbridge office during office hours (Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.). Additional information on running for Council is available on the County’s website or by calling 403-328-5525.
An advance vote will be held on Saturday, December 4. Locations and times for the advance vote and election day will be announced at a later date on the County’s website.
Division 5 is the northwest portion of the County, including Monarch and the area surrounding the Town of Nobleford and Village of Barons.
