Parents and toddlers now have the opportunity to learn rhymes and riddles at Family Centre West every Tuesday until March 22.
Starting this week, parents of children between three and 18 months of age are able to take part in Family Centre’s Rhymes & Riddles program.
“The goal is and the purpose of this is to really get that bond connected with the parents and the babies,” said Laiken Hussey, early childhood and parent educator as well as onsite coordinator of Family Centre West.
She explained that parents and toddlers get together and they sing songs, do nursery rhymes, tickle songs and bouncy songs among others.
“The other really good purpose and target and goal for this, is to have the parents connect with other parents,” said Hussey.
She said that during the program they have some free time for parents to socialize and give their children an opportunity to do the same.
Hussey said those who sign up for the program can attend every week, or however many times they are able to do so and everyone is welcome.
“We do get a lot of families who live on the westside because it is a bit easier to come. They don’t have to cross the bridge, but it is available and accessible for anybody around the city,” said Hussey.
