Ron Sakamoto and the staff at Paradise Canyon Golf Resort are proud to be Canadian.
And for five years the Lethbridge westside river valley golf course has been showing its pride on all 18 holes.
The national flag was raised on each hole Wednesday and will remaining flying until after the American July 4 celebration.
“We’re proud to be Canadian, we’re proud of what we feel is the best country in the world. Paradise Canyon and its management and staff want to celebrate it,” said Sakamoto on Thursday.
“The golfers love it,” said the resort owner.
“As far as Paradise is concerned, we’re very proud. If Calgary can be the third best city in the world to live in, we feel Lethbridge is the first,” he added.
“Our guys here we all feel the same. . .we’re proud to show off that we are fully Canadian,” he said of the resort that attracts golfers from other countries including the U.S. and Mexico.
The course was booked solid on Canada Day and the resort was busy on the weekend as well with a wedding scheduled for the facility.
The idea for the flag raising, Sakamoto said, was “to be patriotic. I feel that we’re blessed to have a country like Canada,” Sakamoto added.
